My role entailed collaborating as the project leader and product designer for the company’s new website. I led the implementation of all potential improvements identified by both the client and users, ensuring a seamless and enhanced user experience.

About the project

Overview

We defined as an objective to be able to frame and resolve this search for service to the user (educational institutions and students) in a more agile, reliable and useful way, in order to provide security in the selection of these services in the shortest possible time of interaction achieving their satisfaction.

The Problem

European educational institutions outside Spain have problems in finding companies/services for their students’ internships and cultural placements (internships/erasmus).

One of the central problems is the lack of information about these services and the time involved in this personalised attention for each user and provider.

A potential solution.

Europeanerapp is an application that enables the hiring of Erasmus Plus and internship services (student work placements) in Spain, centralizing all information and service contracts into a single digital product.

Key MVP Features:

1. Service Categories: I have integrated well-defined service categories into Europeanera, making it easy for users to navigate and find precisely what they need, thereby enhancing the overall user experience.

2. Cultural Activities, Work Placements, and Accommodation Management: In this aspect, our MVP includes robust functionality for managing cultural activities, work placements, and accommodations. This feature streamlines user interactions, providing a comprehensive solution for their internship-related needs.

3. Detailed Information for Each Product or Service: Transparency is a priority for us. We provide detailed information for each product or service, ensuring users have access to comprehensive details, fostering trust and informed decision-making.

4. Fixed Rates and Budgets: I have ensured that Europeanera stands out by offering users fixed rates and closed budgets, ensuring transparency and predictability in financial transactions.

5. User Feedback System: In line with our user-centric design, I have incorporated a feedback system in the MVP. This allows users to share their experiences, enhancing user engagement and providing valuable insights for continuous improvement.

6. Information Database: Our MVP integrates a structured information database, facilitating efficient data management and ensuring quick access to relevant details.

7. Competitive Differentiation: To set Europeanera apart, I have implemented features that differentiate us from competitors, including unique offerings and a distinct user experience designed to resonate with our target audience.

Storytelling

I developed a storytelling approach to illustrate how our app works for the team. This narrative not only outlines the technical features but also immerses the team in a tangible and relatable experience. The goal is to convey not just what the app does but also why it’s valuable for our users, fostering a deeper understanding among the team.

Research process

Thanks to my previous MVP and in-depth user persona analyses, I’ve developed a range of functionalities. Alongside this, I engaged in card sorting exercises and refined the information architecture for my digital product. This iterative process ensures that my product aligns seamlessly with the needs and preferences of our users.

Building upon all this information, I crafted a user flow. This comprehensive visualization outlines the step-by-step journey users will take, ensuring a smooth and intuitive experience based on insights gathered from the MVP, user persona analyses, and information architecture enhancements.

It's time for prototyping. ​

After completing the earlier stages, I have progressed to developing high-fidelity prototypes. These detailed prototypes visually and functionally embody our concepts, allowing me to assess and refine the user experience before the final implementation. It’s important to highlight that all these insights stem from user validation conducted in the preceding stages. To reach the high-fidelity prototypes, we iteratively worked on low-fidelity and medium-fidelity prototypes, ensuring a thorough refinement process and aligning the final product closely with user needs and expectations.

Conclusion

Despite budget constraints preventing the full app development, the process has been positive. I invested time in understanding user needs through analysis and high-fidelity prototypes. While the app launch is on hold, the data collected has significantly enhanced our current website. Despite financial challenges, this is a crucial step in my commitment to delivering user-centered digital experiences. I’m eager to apply these lessons in future developments.
